VERMONT SEARCH AND RESCUE K-9, INC. (VSARK-9)

CODE OF ETHICS

                As a member of Vermont Search and Rescue K-9, Inc., I hereby affirm the following:

Ø      I understand that as a member of VSARK-9, I have a moral obligation to the lost or injured; to the agencies requesting help; and to other VSARK-9 team members with whom I work. 

Ø      I shall deploy as a search and rescue resource only in accordance with VSARK-9 policies and procedures.

Ø      I shall continuously strive to raise my standards of performance and advance my knowledge and skills in search and rescue techniques to the highest attainable levels.

Ø      I shall support other VSARK-9 team members in attaining their training goals by sharing my knowledge and experiences.

Ø      I shall maintain my physical condition and that of my canine partner to enable us to perform effectively in the field as a qualified search and rescue resource. 

Ø      I shall treat my search and rescue canine partner in a humane manner at all times.

Ø      I shall not deploy in an actual search when either my canine or I are not physically and mentally mission-ready so as not to endanger myself, another team member, or the lost or injured.

Ø      I shall, at all times, conduct myself in a manner that is professional, ethical, and prudent.
